Valdis consults patients with rare diseases in internal medicine. His fields of research include venous thromboembolism, pulmonary hypertension and systemic amyloidosis. Since 2016, he has been an investigator in the international RIETE registry (The Computerized Registry of Patients with Venous Thromboembolism) and has authored and contributed to numerous research articles. Since 2019, Valdis is the Head of Latvian Amyloidosis Registry. He has also worked as a sub-investigator in international randomized clinical trials on pulmonary arterial hypertension.
